Aoide, 2011, 44 minutes

Aoide is the muse entitled 'the finished poem'.

The paintings ar by my father, John Hooper, and the score is by Kenichi Iwasa.

Aoide was commissioned by Lothringer 13 in Munich in 2011. It was largely filmed in the gallery and with the gallery staff.

In 1981 my father participated in a group exhibition of british painters at Lothringer 13. Coincidentally I was invited to do a solo exhibition there on the 30th anniversary of his show. The film is about fate, time, memory and the relationship of curating to the practice of being an artist. It draws on concepts of kleos and kudos in archaic Greek thought, and pastiches the artist documentary genre.
